Position Summary

We are seeking a Safety Coordinator to join our team in Canada. The Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting the company’s safety and compliance programs by ensuring adherence to transportation regulations, maintaining accurate documentation, and providing timely assistance to drivers and internal stakeholders. This role requires strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, in-depth knowledge of Hours of Service (HOS) regulations, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. The Safety Coordinator plays a key role in promoting continual safety improvement and operational compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance & Regulatory Duties

  • Conduct regular log audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with HOS regulations.
  • Assist drivers with HOS issues, log corrections, and compliance inquiries.
  • Monitor, track, and maintain driver licensing, medicals, certifications, and other regulatory documentation.
  • Compile, verify, and prepare monthly safety bonus files, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Maintain organized and up‑to‑date compliance files in accordance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Participate in audit preparation, reporting, and tracking of corrective actions as required.

Driver Coaching & Safety Monitoring

  • Monitor driver performance and coach drivers as incidents occur, ensuring corrective actions are communicated and documented.
  • Support incident reporting processes, including information gathering, documentation, follow‑up, and communication with relevant parties.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to reinforce safety standards, reduce risk, and promote safe operating practices.

Safety Program Support

  • Assist with safety initiatives, training materials, communications, and compliance reminders.
  • Respond to safety inquiries in a professional and timely manner while delivering consistent, accurate information.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive data with discretion.

General Administrative Responsibilities

  • Prioritize multiple tasks while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform additional safety and compliance-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Previous experience in transportation safety, compliance, or a related field required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Hours of Service (HOS) compliance and log auditing practices.
  • Experience with driver licensing or regulatory file management preferred.

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to assess issues and implement solutions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
