Full job description

A well-established Canadian supplier within the medical and emergency equipment space, the organization has built a strong national presence by consistently supporting frontline healthcare providers, first responders, and institutional partners with essential, high-quality supplies and equipment. Operating across Canada, the company has developed a reputation for dependability, speed, and precision in fulfilling critical orders in environments where timing and accuracy directly impact outcomes. Its product range spans across emergency response, clinical care, and institutional supply needs, making it a trusted partner in both routine operations and high-pressure situations. Over time, the organization has become a go-to resource for hospitals, EMS providers, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and other large-scale buyers who require consistent access to mission-critical equipment.

As demand continues to grow across the public sector, there is now a strategic push to significantly expand government and institutional contract work at the federal, provincial, municipal, and military levels. This represents a key growth priority for the organization, with meaningful investment being directed toward building out a dedicated government sales capability. The goal is to establish long-term partnerships within public sector procurement channels and position the organization as a preferred supplier across multiple levels of government. To support this initiative, the company is seeking a highly experienced government sales professional who can operate at a senior level within complex procurement environments and drive meaningful contract wins.

This role is for a Public Sector Account Executive – Healthcare Equipment focused on driving new business within government and public sector accounts across federal, provincial, municipal, and military channels. The individual will be responsible for actively developing relationships, identifying procurement opportunities, and securing long-term government contracts. This is not an account maintenance role—success here requires a true hunter mentality, with the ability to navigate complex procurement processes, RFPs, tender submissions, and multi-stakeholder decision environments. The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating independently, opening doors that do not yet exist, and building a pipeline from scratch within government ecosystems.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, target, and develop new business opportunities within government agencies at the federal, provincial, municipal, and military levels
  • Drive the full sales cycle for government contracts, including prospecting, relationship building, RFP/RFQ response, negotiation, and close
  • Build and maintain relationships with procurement officers, departmental decision-makers, and government stakeholders
  • Monitor public tender portals and proactively pursue relevant opportunities
  • Develop strategies to position the organization as a preferred supplier within key government verticals
  • Coordinate internally with operations and leadership to ensure accurate pricing, compliance, and fulfillment capability for bids
  • Maintain a strong pipeline of active government opportunities and manage forecasting
  • Represent the organization at government procurement events, conferences, and industry meetings
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant procurement regulations and documentation requirements

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience selling directly into government agencies (federal, provincial, municipal, or military) is required
  • Strong track record of winning and managing government contracts or public sector deals
  • Experience working with RFPs, RFQs, tenders, and structured procurement processes
  • Ability to independently source and develop new government accounts (hunter mentality essential)
  • Strong understanding of public sector procurement cycles and decision-making structures
  • Excellent relationship-building and negotiation skills across multiple stakeholders
  • Self-driven, autonomous, and comfortable working in a performance-based environment
  • Experience in medical supplies, emergency equipment, healthcare, or related industries is considered a strong asset but not required

Compensation:

This is a high-priority strategic hire, and compensation is fully flexible based on experience and proven government sales success. The organization is prepared to offer a highly competitive base salary with strong performance-based upside, structured to attract top-tier public sector sales talent. For the right candidate with a strong track record of winning government contracts, compensation will not be a limiting factor. On-target earnings for this role can exceed $200,000–$300,000+ for top performers, particularly those who are consistently closing and managing large-scale government contracts across multiple levels of public sector procurement.
