Full job description

The Patient Care Coordinator is a medical operations position responsible for coordinating efficient flow of patients and resources across the departments at Coastal Care. This position can be thought of as the air traffic controller of the hospital. The ideal candidate for this role is an experienced technician or senior assistant with a strong organizational mindset, an understanding of emergency and specialty care needs, and the ability to work quickly to schedule, adjust, and direct flow of people and resources in the hospital to ensure ideal workflow is achieved. This is a leadership role and the right candidate must have strong communication skills and be able to effectively collaborate with others and promote positive collaboration throughout the hospital.

Daily responsibilities:

  • Attend morning rounds and assess daily patient care needs in relation to hospital resources, spaces, equipment, and personnel
  • Work closely with departments to monitor schedules in advance, and to adapt and adjust schedules as needed to accommodate emergencies, callouts, and other unexpected changes
  • Assist in keeping specialty workflow on track throughout the day
  • Maintain timeline for fair and appropriate daily resource allocation to ensure best patient care across departments
  • Oversee and work closely with referral coordinator team for efficient patient flow
  • Assist with creating and auditing estimates and training others on estimates
  • Work with hospital leadership to support accurate billing practices
  • Ensure deviation schedule needs (such as vacation time, equipment maintenance downtime, staff training, etc) are planned ahead of time to reduce disruption

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience as an RVT or high-level VTA
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a multi-specialty hospital environment
  • Strong logistical and organization skills
  • Effective communication and conflict management skills
  • Previous management experience is preferred

Note: As a new position to Coastal Care, there is an expectation that the exact responsibilities of the Patient Care Coordinator may shift as the role is tested and developed.

Pay: $28.00-$40.00 per hour
