If you’re an experienced Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) looking for a meaningful career move—and a change in lifestyle—Island Health welcomes you. This is a casual role at Cowichan District Hospital on Vancouver Island, BC.
What You’ll Do
At Island Health, MLAs directly impact patient care by collecting, processing and handling biological specimens, managing essential diagnostic data in fast-paced healthcare environments. Responsibilities and duties are:
- perform laboratory procedures and related clerical duties,
- blood and other specimen collection, prepare samples for analysis, distribution and storage of samples,
- perform laboratory tests such as urinalysis using colour-coded dipsticks and perform Electro Cardiogram (ECG) testing where required.
What You Will Need to Apply
- Successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program.
- At least one year of recent, related experience.
- Valid BC Class 5 Vehicle License.
