Toronto Academy of Education is seeking a qualified, experienced, and dedicated Medical Office Assistant (MOA) Instructor to join our academic team.

Our Medical Office Assistant Diploma Program combines healthcare administration, medical knowledge, clinical support skills, technology, communication, and career preparation. We are looking for an instructor who can bring strong Canadian healthcare experience, practical medical office knowledge, and professional standards into the classroom.

MOA Instructor (Medical Office Assistant Diploma Program)

Job Summary
The MOA Instructor will deliver engaging, career-focused instruction and prepare students with the practical competencies required to work effectively in medical offices, clinics, hospitals, and other healthcare environments.

The successful candidate should be comfortable teaching across medical office administration, medical terminology, healthcare communication, administrative procedures, basic clinical procedures, and related professional competencies.

Job Types: Part-time, Casual, Contract

MOA program delivery – Hybrid

Academic & Experience Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Medical Office Administration, Healthcare Administration, Health Sciences, Nursing, or a closely related healthcare discipline.
  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant professional experience, with substantial experience in a Canadian medical office, clinic, hospital, or healthcare administration environment.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, body systems, and common medical conditions.
  • Demonstrated experience with medical office administration, including reception, scheduling, medical records, documentation, billing, and office procedures.
  • Practical knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMR), practice-management systems, and healthcare office technology.
  • Understanding of Canadian healthcare practices, privacy, confidentiality, ethics, and professional standards.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and control, vital signs, clinical support procedures, and medical emergencies.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications and digital office systems.
  • Excellent professional communication, presentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively teach and support adult learners from diverse and multicultural backgrounds.
  • Previous teaching, professional training, mentoring, or supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
  • Must meet applicable instructor qualification requirements under the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous teaching experience in a Career College, post-secondary institution, healthcare organization, or adult education environment.
  • Advanced experience with EMR/EHR or medical practice-management systems.
  • Experience with medical billing and computerized accounting applications.
  • Experience developing lesson plans, assessments, instructional materials, or healthcare training content.
  • Experience in physician offices, specialist clinics, hospitals, diagnostic facilities, or multidisciplinary healthcare environments.
