Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care within our ophthalmology practice. This position involves assisting ophthalmologists in various clinical tasks, managing patient interactions, and ensuring the smooth operation of the medical office.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preliminary tests and measurements, including visual acuity tests, tonometry, and retinal imaging.
  • Obtaining medical history, medication history, chief complaint.
  • Administration of eye drops.
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR) and paper charts for all patient interactions and procedures.
  • Provide excellent patient care by addressing questions and concerns while ensuring a comfortable environment.
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain an organized and efficient medical office workflow.
  • Visual Field Testing.
  • Stock and clean examination rooms.
  • Sterilize instruments
  • Select Administrative duties.

Skills

  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems; experience with Med-Access is an asset.
  • Excellent patient care skills with a focus on creating positive experiences for patients.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology related to ophthalmology and general healthcare practices would be an asset.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
