Job Summary

DLK Training & Consultation Inc. is seeking a passionate and creative Arts instructor to provide engaging, individualized sessions for autistic children and youth in their homes or community settings.

We are looking for someone who enjoys using creativity to foster communication, social interaction, emotional expression, and confidence while creating a positive and enjoyable learning experience for each learner.

Position Type

  • Independent Contractor
  • Part-Time
  • Flexible scheduling (primarily afternoons, evenings, and weekends)

Responsibilities

  • Plan and facilitate individualized art and/or music therapy sessions for autistic children and youth, with collaboration with the ABA team.
  • Develop creative lesson plans based on each learner's interests, strengths, and goals.
  • Provide and bring your own materials required for each session.
  • Adapt activities to meet the unique learning needs and abilities of each child.
  • Create a fun, supportive, and engaging environment that encourages participation and self-expression.
  • Collaborate with the supervising Behaviour Analyst (BCBA/R.B.A.) to ensure sessions complement each learner's overall treatment goals.
  • Maintain brief session notes and communicate progress, observations, and recommendations following each session.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Art Therapy, Music Therapy, or a related field.
  • Certification or eligibility for certification in your respective profession is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with autistic children or individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Creative, patient, and flexible approach to teaching.
  • Valid Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Professional liability insurance (or willingness to obtain).
  • Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation are considered an asset.
