Duties and responsibilities include:

Answer the phone, schedule and confirm medical appointments, greet patients, guide them to exam rooms, and receive and communicate messages.

Patient registration and health card verification, scheduling and confirming patient appointments, processing referrals, completing messages from physicians, and answering phones/faxes/emails.

Use EMR software (ACCURO) to book appointments or prepare reports, invoices, financial statements, letters, case histories, and medical records.

Ask patients questions to complete intake forms or other documents. Help patients complete health history forms.

Complete insurance and other claim forms.

Process payments, bank documents, lawyer documents, and accounts receivable.

Operate office equipment. This includes voice mail messaging systems, photocopiers, fax system, EMR software, and document scanners.

Phlebotomy and sterilization of instruments

Keep work areas, including examination rooms, clean, orderly, and stocked with all essential supplies.

Use word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software for various tasks and to prepare medical documentation.

Perform other clerical and minor administrative functions. This might involve, for example, ordering and maintaining an inventory of supplies and Vaccines.

May supervise and train other staff members in procedures and in the use of current software.

Qualifications include the completion of Medical Office Administration training and/or equivalent experience, EMR experience - ACCURO is an asset, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, effective communication, reliability, multi-tasking and time-management skills.

Desired skills include:

Necessary education and/or work experience to perform the above-mentioned duties.

The ability to maintain patient confidentiality.

Excellent verbal and written English Language skills.

Good organizational and time management skills.

The ability to maintain accuracy while doing multiple tasks or working under pressure.

A mature attitude toward the human body, wellness, and disease.

The ability to follow directions closely and accurately.

The ability to establish a professional relationship with patients and ensure that they have confidence in you.

The ability to deal effectively with the difficult behaviors that can sometimes be shown by people in distress.

The ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Having a medical education or background will be considered an asset.

Familiarity with ACCURO EMR will be considered an asset.
