Overview:

Red House Vision Centre is a well-established and reputable eye care provider in Oshawa, Ontario, providing the community with optometry, ophthalmology, and optical services. We love working with all members of the community - from kids to seniors, and everyone in between - and we always take the time to ensure that our patients and customers receive only the highest level of service and products.

We are a small (but mighty) team who believe in working together to provide exceptional patient experience. Working with us is being part of a family, and we're looking for a hard-working and highly motivated Optical Sales & Administrative Assistant to join us on a full-time basis. Saturday availability is required.

You should be capable and confident in your sales, administration, and customer service abilities. You enjoy working in a team-oriented environment and eager to learn more. We're looking for individuals who are passionate about eye care in Ontario and who are looking to build a long-term career with us through professional development.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Help lead the overall sales process and customer experience for the optical business and assist in the development of new processes/services to maintain high level of customer service. Actively work towards meeting sales objectives and goals.
  • Perform OCT and pre-testing for Optometrist and Ophthalmology appointments
  • Advise patients with frame, lens & sunglass selection, and offer the best advice based on customer requests and lifestyle. Perform measurements and adjustments as needed under the guidance of the optician or optometrist.
  • Continuously remain up-to-date on new products and trends in the optical sector by participating in online and in person training sessions as needed.
  • General administrative duties as required, such as scheduling, billing, patient recalls, patient processing, referrals, frame and lens ordering
  • Support duties related to maintaining accurate inventory, including entering new stock, packaging lab shipments, and book-keeping
  • Maintain information related to customer/client/patient records, eye prescriptions, eyeglass orders, invoices, returns, payments.
  • Take payments from customers and complete sales as required. Direct bill through various insurance platforms
  • Manages and respond to customer complaints and warranty requests

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a consultative sales environment providing exceptional customer service
  • 3+ years of experience in an optical or medical environment is an asset. CCOA certification is a strong asset
  • A professional, honest, and fun-loving attitude with a strong passion for delivering high quality service
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills is a must; Must be fluent in English
  • Strong multi-tasking, time management, and organizational skills
  • Experience scheduling, reporting, ordering, inventory management, and other administrative duties
  • Ability to stay calm when presented with challenging customers
  • Highly detail-oriented and able to learn and use new technologies
  • Interest in eyewear trends and a good eye for fashion
  • Experience in insurance billing is considered an asset
  • Must be available to work on Saturdays

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00-$23.00 per hour
