Qualifications – Northern Ontario Healthcare Facility

  • Registered Nurse registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Obstetrics (OB) experience required
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
  • FHS (Fetal Health Surveillance) certification required
  • ACLS certification required
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • End Date: 3 months
  • Must be comfortable working in both Obstetrics and Medical/Surgical units
  • Ability to work days, nights, and weekends as required
  • Accommodations: Provided
  • Travel: Covered
  • Hours: Full-time
  • Overtime: Applicable

Responsibilities:

Registered Nurses are required to adhere to the scope of practice as defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to obstetrical and medical/surgical patients
  • Perform maternal and newborn assessments and monitor patient conditions
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and monitor patient responses
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation
  • Respond effectively to obstetrical emergencies following established protocols
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection control standards, and patient safety practices

Note: Duties may vary slightly based on facility needs and shift assignments, with specific guidance provided during site orientation.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant Canadian nursing experience required
  • Recent Obstetrics experience required with competency in maternal and newborn care
  • Experience in Medical/Surgical nursing considered an asset
  • Familiarity with hospital electronic documentation systems is an asset
  • Ability to work independently and within an interdisciplinary team
  • Strong clinical judgment and adaptability in fast-paced environments
