Full job description

About Aevum Health

Aevum Health is a new aesthetic, surgical and longevity clinic in Yorkville, founded by Dr. Michael Roskies, a facial plastic surgeon, and Dr. Jacqueline Makerewich, a plastic surgeon. We aim for natural results, careful work, and a calm, private experience for every patient. You will join the founding team and help build our reprocessing program from the ground up.

The role

You will make sure every reusable surgical instrument and device is cleaned, inspected, sterilized and ready for use. You will work closely with our surgeons and nursing team and report to our head nurse. Because the clinic is new, you will also help set up the reprocessing area, logs and workflows.

What you will do

  • Receive, sort and decontaminate used instruments and reusable devices
  • Clean by hand and with ultrasonic and automated equipment, following each manufacturer's instructions for use (IFUs)
  • Inspect every instrument for cleanliness, damage and function; remove and report any that fail
  • Assemble, package and label instrument sets and trays for each surgeon's cases
  • Run and monitor steam sterilizers and other reprocessing equipment
  • Complete daily testing and quality checks, including biological, chemical and physical indicators
  • Keep accurate sterilization, load and traceability record
  • Manage sterile storage, stock rotation and instrument inventory, and flag supplies before they run low
  • Prepare sets from the surgical schedule and support the OR team as needed
  • Assist the circulating nurse in the OR when needed, such as opening sterile supplies and room turnover
  • Work to CSA Z314 and PIDAC best practices, and keep the premises ready for CPSO Out-of-Hospital Premises inspections
  • Help write and maintain our reprocessing policies and procedures
  • Keep the reprocessing area clean, organized and safe, and use PPE correctly

What you bring

  • An MDR certificate from a recognized program, such as a community college MDR program, the Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Ontario (MDRAO) or CSA Group
  • Current certification, obtained or renewed within the last five years
  • At least three years of MDR experience, ideally in a private surgical clinic or out-of-hospital premises
  • Working knowledge of decontamination, sterilization and IPAC practice
  • Careful attention to detail and good organization
  • Comfort adjusting to a changing surgical schedule
  • Clear communication, and you enjoy working on a small team
  • Able to stand for long periods and lift instrument trays

Nice to have: experience opening a new clinic or reprocessing department, experience with instrument tracking systems, and current BLS/CPR certification.

Why join us

  • $25 to $30 per hour, full-time, weekdays only
  • Health benefits and staff pricing on treatments
  • A founding role in a new Yorkville clinic, with a real say in how reprocessing is set up
  • Work directly with two board-certified surgeons
