Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Mechanical Insulator to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing insulation systems on commercial and industrial mechanical components, including piping, ductwork, and HVAC equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess systems: Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project specifications to determine insulation type and quantity requirements.
  • Prepare surfaces: Remove damaged or obsolete insulation and apply pins, adhesives, or asphalt to prepare surfaces for new material.
  • Measure & cut: Use tape measures, handsaws, knives, and power tools to accurately cut insulation to fit complex shapes.
  • Install insulation: Apply various materials (fiberglass, foam board, cork, mineral wool) to pipes, ductwork, and tanks.
  • Apply protective finishes: Install metal cladding, PVC jacketing, vapor barriers, or weatherproofing to shield insulation from moisture and physical damage.
  • Maintain safety: Follow all health and safety regulations, including local construction guidelines and proper handling of hazardous materials.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial or industrial mechanical insulation (Apprentices welcome to apply).
  • Technical skills: Proven ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and layouts.
  • Physical stamina: Ability to lift up to 25 kg (50 lbs), work in cramped spaces, at heights on ladders/scaffolding, and in variable weather conditions.
  • Tool proficiency: Experienced using basic hand and power tools (knives, staple guns, saws, air compressors).
  • Logistics: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to various job sites.
  • Traits: Strong attention to detail, punctuality, reliable work ethic, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
