About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer or Technologist to join our team in delivering upstream and midstream oil and gas projects. These include wellpads, oil batteries, compressor stations, and gas plants in both greenfield and brownfield environments.

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience across the full lifecycle of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems—from design and engineering through commissioning and operations support. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to execute complex projects safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively, while also mentoring junior staff and upholding high standards of technical quality and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interface with clients and vendors; support business development activities
  • Lead and take ownership of all electrical requirements per project.
  • Review engineering deliverables for completeness and technical accuracy
  • Review bid evaluations, and RFQs
  • Develop electrical construction packages and manage vendor contracts
  • Contribute to and review P&IDs
  • Design electrical systems including:
  • ARC Flash Studies (ETAP/SKM)
  • Power generation and distribution
  • Switchgear and MCC
  • Communication and grounding systems
  • Heat trace layouts and schedules
  • Generate construction drawings such as :
  • Panel layouts and schematics (Including Control Panels, Distribution Panels, Contactor Panels and Lighting Panels)
  • Medium/Low voltage Single-line diagrams
  • Area classification and Grounding drawings
  • Cable routing drawings and cable schedules
  • Building Layouts
  • Perform electrical calculations in accordance with CEC/NEC and other applicable standards
  • Mentor junior/intermediate electrical engineers and technologists.
  • Support the electrical design and drafting team

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering
  • Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of formal education
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering roles in the oil and gas sector (upstream/midstream);
  • Registration with APEGA is considered an asset, but not required
  • Strong working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC)
  • Familiarity with National Electrical Code (NEC) is an asset
  • Experience with control system architecture is an asset
  • Strong mentorship, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Compensation

  • Pay is market competitive, with both contract or staff options
