310T / 310S Technician – Regional Crane Rentals Ltd. Position

Summary

Regional Crane Rentals Ltd. is seeking a motivated and skilled 310T Truck and Coach Technician or 310S Automotive Service Technician to join our team. Working alongside our Head Technician, the successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of our fleet of mobile cranes, boom trucks, heavy trucks, service vehicles, trailers, and support equipment.

This position offers an opportunity to work with a diverse fleet of specialized lifting equipment while supporting a company that has proudly served the Ottawa, Gatineau, and surrounding regions since 1972.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and inspections on mobile cranes, boom trucks, heavy trucks, trailers, and support vehicles.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Respond to field service calls and emergency breakdowns at customer job sites and company locations.
  • Conduct annual safety inspections, 90-day crane inspections, and scheduled maintenance in accordance with company policies, manufacturer requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Complete inspection reports, maintenance records, and repair documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist with equipment preparation, testing, and commissioning prior to deployment to job sites.
  • Work closely with operators, dispatch, and management to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the shop, yard, and field.
  • Follow all company Health & Safety policies, procedures, and industry regulations.

Position Requirements

  • Valid 310T Truck and Coach Technician Certification.
  • 310T Apprentices (Level 2 or Level 3) and 310S Automotive Service Technicians are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience working on mobile cranes, boom trucks, heavy trucks, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and trailers is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience with Ford, Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Mack, and crane carrier chassis is an asset.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract.
  • AZ or DZ license is considered a strong asset.
  • Strong understanding of electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Knowledge of Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) inspections and annual safety certifications is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic information.
  • Comfortable using computers, diagnostic software, and electronic service resources.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physically capable of lifting, climbing, kneeling, and working in shop and outdoor environments year-round.
  • Must provide own basic hand tools.
  • Ability to work 8-hour shifts, with overtime and occasional weekend work as required.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining a high standard of workmanship and safety.
