The Category Insights Analyst is responsible for transforming consumer, customer, market, and category data into actionable business insights that support growth, improve decision-making, and drive business performance.
This role plays an important part in helping the organization understand category trends, customer opportunities, pricing strategies, promotional effectiveness, and shelf optimization. Working closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Revenue Growth Management teams, the successful candidate will analyze data, identify opportunities, and help translate insights into actions that create value for customers and consumers.
This is a Next Gen opportunity designed for individuals who are early in their careers and looking to build a strong foundation in commercial analytics, category management, and business strategy. We are looking for people with exceptional curiosity, critical thinking skills, and a passion for solving business problems. Prior industry experience is not required. Successful candidates will work alongside experienced leaders and subject matter experts who will provide mentorship, coaching, and hands-on development to help build a long-term career path.

Primary Responsibilities
Category Analysis & Storytelling
- Analyze shipment, consumption, retail, customer, and market data to identify trends, opportunities, and business insights.
- Transform complex data into clear, compelling stories and recommendations that support business decision-making.
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and other stakeholders to ensure insights are incorporated into business plans and actions.
- Monitor category performance, market share, pricing, promotional activity, and distribution trends.
- Identify emerging consumer behaviors, unmet needs, and growth opportunities.
Pricing & Promotional Analysis
- Support the evaluation of pricing and promotional strategies to identify opportunities to improve business performance.
- Analyze promotional effectiveness, including frequency, depth, and return on investment.
- Assist with scenario analysis and business modeling to assess potential impacts of pricing and commercial decisions.
- Support initiatives that optimize revenue, profitability, and market competitiveness.
Customer & Category Support
- Support customer business reviews, annual planning processes, and sales presentations through data-driven insights and recommendations.
- Partner with Sales and Marketing teams to identify assortment opportunities, distribution gaps, and growth initiatives.
- Develop customer-specific analyses to support key retail partners.
- Conduct ad hoc analyses to answer important business questions and support strategic initiatives.
Planogram & Shelf Optimization
- Support the development and analysis of planograms to improve shelf productivity, assortment effectiveness, and product visibility.
- Evaluate shelf performance using sales, velocity, distribution, and space allocation metrics.
- Assist with assortment optimization, category reviews, seasonal transitions, and new product introductions.
- Identify opportunities to improve category performance through data-driven shelf and assortment recommendations.
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Develop and maintain recurring reports, dashboards, and performance scorecards.
- Analyze sales, shipment, retail scan, consumer panel, and customer data to assess business performance.
- Conduct root-cause analysis to understand performance drivers and identify actionable recommendations.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve reporting processes, analytical capabilities, and business insights.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Finance, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify patterns, evaluate information, and draw logical conclusions.
- Demonstrated ability to work with data and translate findings into clear recommendations and actions.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and intellectual curiosity.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and a willingness to learn new analytical tools and technologies.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a collaborative environment.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to consumer packaged goods (CPG), retail, category management, sales, marketing, finance, or business analytics.
- Experience working with large datasets through academic projects, internships, co-op placements, research, case competitions, or previous employment.
- Familiarity with syndicated data sources such as NielsenIQ, Numerator, Circana, or retailer data.
- Exposure to Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools.
- Exposure to planogram, assortment, or space management software.
- Knowledge of pricing, promotions, revenue growth management, or category management concepts.
