Location: Ferry Terminals – Maritime Provinces

Company Overview: Join our dynamic team at Bay Ferries and Northumberland Ferries, where we prioritize safety, efficiency, and quality in all our operations. We are committed to enhancing our customer experience and ensuring the highest standards in our services.

Position Overview: We are seeking dedicated and experienced terminal management professionals to oversee the operational and fiscal activities at our ferry terminals located in the Maritimes. The ideal candidate(s) will be responsible for supervising staff, implementing systems and procedures, and ensuring the safety and efficiency of our terminal operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety Management: Ensure the safety of customers, employees, and contract service providers by continuously improving operational safety measures.

Operational Oversight: Manage terminal operations, including staffing levels, expense budgets, revenue protection, and accounting.

Service Quality: Develop and implement systems to improve service quality and loading efficiency.

Customer Feedback: Analyze customer feedback and develop solutions to enhance efficiencies.

Staff Supervision: Conduct interviews, hire new staff, provide employee orientation, and supervise staff in accordance with company policies.

Scheduling: Manage employee schedules, including work assignments, rotations, training, vacations, and shift rotations.

Union Relations: Oversee relationships with unionized and non-unionized workforces, including labor management meetings and grievance processing.

Traffic Management: Ensure efficient loading operations and manage customer expectations.

Contractor Management: Administer and manage relationships with service contractors, ensuring high standards of customer service and cleanliness.

Regulatory Compliance: Interact with statutory and regulatory bodies for operating matters and approvals.

Additional Duties: Assist with the implementation of safety and security measures, manage terminal food and beverage service concessions, and oversee traffic management. Through the off-season, this position will be assigned to manage and participate in various operationally focused projects.

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of vessel and terminal operating processes, procedures, and technology.
  • Ability to read and interpret accounting and financial reports.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work and achieve goals with minimal direction.

Working Conditions:

  • Normal office environment with visits to vessels, docks, facilities, and other business locations.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including frequent weekend and evening work, and overnight travel.
