Maple Leaf Construction Ltd. is a prominent heavy civil construction company based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, proudly operating since 1943. We deliver a wide range of services, from minor repairs and maintenance jobs to large-scale commercial and infrastructure projects. These services include commercial development, concrete and asphalt paving, site services, residential developments, street reconstruction, as well as highway rehabilitation.

Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Seasonal Asphalt Plant Groundperson to join our company at the Brookside Plant. This role involves supporting the operation and maintenance of asphalt plant equipment, ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality in production processes. The ideal candidate will have mechanical aptitude, experience with heavy equipment, and familiarity with manufacturing or construction environments.

Duties include:

· Perform general maintenance, repairs and regular service on equipment as needed and on a regular basis

· Perform pre-shift inspection, maintain equipment repairs/maintenance records

· General cleanliness of assigned equipment

· Communicating effectively with Plant Operator

· General labour duties and contributing to the team as needed

· Follow, understand and apply safe job procedures, safe work practices, and policies

What You Bring:

· Knowledge of Asphalt plants, conveyors, loaders, equipment considered an asset

· Passion for safety and knowledge and understanding of the Safety Act and relevant standards

· Minimum of 1-year related experience required

· Physical abilities including long periods of standing, lifting, working at heights

· Willingness to learn and take direction

· Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools

· Must be able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; grip, climb, reach, shovel, squat, crawl, or pull, push, bend and lift to 80 pounds

· Ability to communicate orally and in writing

· Welding/torch cutting experience desired
