Full job description

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for managing end-to-end sourcing and purchasing activities within a manufacturing environment, ensuring accurate supplier and part master data to support effective MRP-driven planning and procurement. The position oversees supplier selection, performance, and cost management while executing purchasing actions, resolving system exceptions, and maintaining pricing integrity. It collaborates cross-functionally with engineering, production, planning, and quality teams to support new product introductions, mitigate supply risks, and ensure material availability. Additionally, the role drives continuous improvement in ERP processes, maintains compliance with quality and regulatory standards, and contributes to strategic sourcing initiatives for cost efficiency and supply chain resilience.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Sourcing Specialist to join our team in Canada. In this role, you will play a key part in managing procurement processes and supplier relationships to support our company's manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

Supplier & Part Master Data Management:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date supplier master data, including lead times, minimum order quantities, pricing, and commercial terms.
  • Ensure part master sourcing fields—such as approved suppliers, primary vendors, and purchasing parameters—are current and reliable.
  • Update planning parameters (lead times, safety stock, order multiples, min/max levels) to support accurate MRP outputs.
  • Partner with engineering to support new part creation and sourcing data setup.
  • Review and act on MRP recommendations (buy, reschedule, cancel, expedite) within the ERP system.
  • Convert MRP signals into purchase orders, validating demand, timing, and quantities.
  • Investigate and resolve MRP exceptions to prevent shortages and excess inventory.
  • Collaborate with planning teams to refine parameters when system outputs are misaligned.
  • Identify, assess, and onboard suppliers through established approval processes.
  • Monitor supplier performance using key metrics such as on-time delivery, quality, and responsiveness.
  • Lead or support supplier corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain approved supplier lists in compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

Cost Control & Pricing Integrity:

  • Maintain accurate pricing structures, including price breaks and effective dates, within the ERP system.
  • Ensure negotiated costs are reflected correctly to support accurate BOM costing.
  • Track and validate cost reduction initiatives through reporting tools.
  • Support supplier negotiations and periodic cost reviews.

RFQ & Sourcing Activities:

  • Issue and manage RFQs, evaluating supplier responses based on cost, lead time, quality, and capacity.
  • Update sourcing decisions to ensure accurate system-driven procurement.
  • Maintain thorough documentation and audit trails for sourcing decisions.
