Product Stewardship Specialist:
As a Product Stewardship Specialist, you will lead global product stewardship and material compliance operations by managing regulatory reporting, evaluating Bill of Materials (BOMs), and engaging suppliers to ensure strict alignment with international standards such as REACH, RoHS, and TSCA.
What does a Product Stewardship Specialist do?
Role Summary
· Primary Objective: Ensure complete regulatory compliance and transparency of company products in international markets by overseeing global compliance reporting, evaluating material data, and fostering supplier engagement.
· Core Focus: Manage restricted substance declarations, maintain compliance tracking platforms, assess material compositions, and streamline both internal and external reporting workflows.
Core Responsibilities
- Regulatory Reporting & Compliance: Maintain product and material compliance reporting with global regulations including REACH, RoHS, PFAS restrictions, Proposition 65, SCIP, WEEE, TSCA, EPR, and PPRW.
- Stakeholder Inquiries: Respond to internal and customer requests for RoHS, REACH, PFAS, Conflict Minerals, and other regulatory compliance reports.
- Standards Communication: Review and update existing and new material compliance standards, and communicate critical requirements across design, process, quality, and operations teams.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Participate in corporate review and development meetings to ensure awareness of updated requirements and develop tools for efficient reporting.
- Platform Management: Use and maintain compliance data within platforms such as Assent, IMDS, Safety Data Sheet (SDS) repositories, and SCIP submission tools.
- Conflict Minerals Management: Manage Conflict Minerals (CMRT/EMRT) reporting, supplier engagement, and due-diligence documentation.
- Trade & Tariff Data: Collect, verify, and maintain steel, aluminum, and other material source and weight data for tariff and trade compliance reporting.
- Dossier Preparation: Prepare and submit SCIP dossiers, generate SSNs, and manage substance compliance information.
- Data Evaluation: Evaluate BOMs, material data sheets, and supplier certifications to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Supplier Coordination: Work closely with suppliers to obtain material composition, country of origin, and compliance declarations.
- Audit Support: Support internal and customer audits and develop and track corrective actions.
- Documentation & Metrics: Maintain documentation, dashboards, and compliance reporting metrics.
- Training Delivery: Provide training and guidance to cross-functional teams on compliance and reporting requirements.
- Process Improvement: Develop and streamline reporting processes through interdepartmental cooperation, digital/AI tool usage, and standard method development.
What you bring to the table?
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Experience: 2–3 years of experience in environmental compliance, product stewardship, supplier quality, or regulatory roles.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Practical knowledge of REACH, RoHS, PFAS, SCIP, Prop 65, and Conflict Minerals regulations.
- Technical Tools: Experience with compliance management platforms such as Assent (preferred), IMDS, or similar systems.
- Material Analysis: Familiarity with collecting and analyzing material source, weight, and tariff documentation, especially for steel and aluminum.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical ability to interpret SDS, supplier declarations, technical data sheets, and BOMs.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data-driven reporting.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills for supplier coordination and internal collaboration; highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.

- Proficiency in digital data analysis and artificial intelligence tools.
