QA/QC Controller

We are presently seeking a QA/QC Controller that will play a critical role in ensuring that all Napier‑Reid products meet code compliance, client specifications, and internal quality standards from procurement through final delivery. This role is responsible for implementing and maintaining the company’s quality management system, including preparation of ITPs, verification of material certifications, and ensuring full traceability and documentation control. The Controller is expected to actively support internal audits, ISO 9001 quality objectives, and regulatory compliance activities involving TSSA, CSA, CRN, and ASME certifications.

In addition, the QA/QC Controller acts as the company’s quality representative and welding/inspection authority during fabrication, including travel to supplier facilities to perform weld visual inspections, coating inspections, and witness hydrostatic and functional testing as defined in project quality plans. The role requires strong coordination with engineering, production, vendors, and inspectors to manage non-conformances, validate test results, and ensure that all quality documentation, inspection records, and certification packages are complete, accurate, and audit-ready prior to shipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and maintain the Quality Program Manual (QPM) and internal quality procedures
  • Prepare, review, and implement Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), checklists, and QA/QC documentation
  • Perform and support incoming material inspections (CRNs, MTRs, ASME reports, and compliance verification)
  • Verify mechanical assembly, piping, and skid systems against GA drawings, P&IDs, and project specifications
  • Ensure compliance with CSA B51, ASME B31.3, and TSSA regulatory requirements
  • Act as QA/QC & Welding Inspector representing Napier‑Reid at supplier/fabricator facilities (domestic & international):
  • Perform visual weld inspections in accordance with applicable codes and approved procedures
  • Conduct surface preparation and coating/painting inspections
  • Witness and verify hydrostatic testing and other inspections/tests as defined in ITPs and Quality Plans
  • Prepare reports and/or validate supplier quality documentation (NDE reports, weld maps, MTRs, test records)
  • Perform internal quality audits to ensure compliance with company QMS and project requirements
  • Support ISO 9001 quality objectives and audit preparedness, including continuous improvement initiatives
  • Prepare and review quality documentation packages for approvals and compliance related to TSSA, CSA, CRN, and ASME certifications for piping systems and pressure vessels/filters
  • Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), corrective actions, and closure tracking
  • Perform and Prepare report for Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), hydrotesting, and final inspections
  • Maintain complete quality records, certification packages, and project dossiers
  • Interface with TSSA inspectors, client QA representatives, vendors, and internal teams
  • Track key quality metrics and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure full material traceability and document control throughout the project lifecycle

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical / Process / Engineering Technology or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in QA/QC within fabrication, piping, pressure systems, or skid-based process equipment
  • Strong knowledge of: CSA B51, ASME B31.3 / Section VIII
  • Material certifications (MTRs, CRNs, Certificates of Compliance)
  • Inspection, testing, and documentation practices
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, GA drawings, fabrication drawings, and specifications
  • Experience with ITPs, NCRs, FAT, hydrostatic testing, and quality documentation control
  • Willingness and ability to travel to vendor/fabricator facilities (including international travel if required)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook),AutoCAD
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • CWB Level 1 Welding Inspector certification (or equivalent)
  • Experience in water/wastewater treatment systems or process skid manufacturing
  • Knowledge of Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) methods in accordance with ASME B31.3, ASME Section V, and ASME Section VIII
  • Familiarity with TSSA requirements and CRN registration processes
  • Experience coordinating supplier QA/QC activities, including international fabrication
  • Additional QA certifications (ISO 9001, ASME, or related standards)
