Job Description & Duties:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Specialized Livestock Worker / Swine Technician to join our team in rural Manitoba. In this role, you will be responsible for day-to-day herd health and specialized livestock care.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring and maintaining the health and welfare of swine herds.
  • Identifying, tracking, and treating sick or injured animals in accordance with veterinary instructions.
  • Administering medications, vaccinations, and specialized feed programs.
  • Maintaining precise electronic or manual herd health, breeding, and production records.
  • Operating specialized farm machinery and automated barn ventilation/feeding equipment.
  • Performing strict biosecurity protocols and rigorous cleaning/sanitization of facilities.

Employment Requirements:

Education: No formal education degree required.

Experience: A minimum of 1 to 2 years of direct experience working in swine production or specialized livestock management is required.

Language: Basic conversational English is required to understand biosecurity protocols and safety guidelines.

Core Competencies: Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, handle heavy lifting, and manage livestock safely.

Compensation & Benefits:

Starting Wage Rate: $20 per hour

Hours: Average of 40 hours per week.

Work Schedule: Day, weekend, or shift rotation based on herd management needs. Includes 1 mandatory day of rest per week.

Benefits:

Suitable on-farm housing will be provided to the worker.
