Full job description
Job Summary
Mandarin Restaurant is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and team-oriented Kitchen Helper to support daily kitchen operations. The Kitchen Helper will assist with food preparation, maintain cleanliness and organization, support kitchen staff during busy service periods, and follow food safety and sanitation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist cooks and kitchen staff with daily food preparation.
- Wash, peel, cut, portion, and organize ingredients as required.
- Prepare ingredients according to recipes and kitchen instructions.
- Assist with assembling and preparing food items for service.
- Wash dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, counters, and kitchen surfaces.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
- Restock ingredients, supplies, and kitchen items as needed.
- Store food products properly and follow food-handling procedures.
- Check food preparation areas for cleanliness and sanitation.
- Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries when required.
- Dispose of waste and recycling according to workplace procedures.
- Follow workplace health, safety, and food sanitation requirements.
- Support cooks and other kitchen team members during busy periods.
- Perform other kitchen duties assigned by the supervisor or manager.
Requirements
- Previous kitchen, restaurant, or food-service experience is an asset.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and sanitation practices.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and hardworking.
- Ability to follow instructions and established procedures.
- Strong attention to cleanliness and food safety.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform routine physical kitchen tasks.
- Availability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience as a Kitchen Helper, Dishwasher, Prep Cook, or Food Service Worker.
- Good time-management and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask during busy service periods.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a kitchen team.
