Full job description

Garrick's Head Pub & The Churchill

This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for the overall performance of both businesses. You'll lead and develop your management team, drive financial performance, and create exceptional guest experiences.

We're looking for someone who is visible on the floor, leads by example, develops people, and understands that a strong culture and operational excellence go hand in hand.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of both restaurants.
  • Recruit, coach, mentor, and develop managers, supervisors, and staff.
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and high-performing workplace culture.
  • Deliver exceptional guest experiences while maintaining consistently high service standards.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and retain outstanding hospitality professionals.
  • Manage labour budgets and scheduling to achieve financial targets.
  • Monitor food, beverage, and operating costs while identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Review sales, labour, and operational reports to drive informed business decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, liquor, and employment regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Chef on menu execution and operational improvements.
  • Resolve guest concerns professionally and proactively.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness, organization, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of progressive restaurant management experience.
  • Previous experience as a General Manager, Assistant General Manager, or in a multi-department leadership role is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Demonstrated success managing labour, budgets, and financial performance.
  • Excellent communication and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Experience with scheduling and POS systems (7shifts and Toast experience is an asset).
  • Strong understanding of food, beverage, wine, beer, and cocktail operations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure under pressure.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate:

  • Leads with integrity and professionalism.
  • Holds themselves and others accountable.
  • Makes confident, thoughtful decisions.
  • Develops leaders rather than simply managing employees.
  • Is highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Believes great hospitality begins with great leadership.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $65,000–$85,000 annually, based on experience.
  • Performance-based bonus opportunity.
  • Paid vacation.
  • Extended health and dental benefits.
  • Staff discounts across Bastion Hospitality locations.
  • Ongoing leadership development and advancement opportunities.

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to lead two iconic Victoria restaurants during an exciting period of growth and positive change. You'll work alongside a supportive ownership group and Operations Director who are committed to investing in both the business and its people.

If you're an experienced hospitality leader who thrives on developing teams, driving results, and creating outstanding guest experiences, we'd love to hear from you.
