Summary:

Surex is looking for a dynamic, people-first Director of Sales to lead, inspire, and elevate our sales organization. This role is not simply about managing results—it is about motivating people, developing talent, and building a high-performance sales culture that drives sustainable growth.

The ideal candidate is a proven sales leader who thrives on coaching, accountability, and performance development. They have a track record of building engaged teams, improving sales effectiveness, and driving revenue growth through strong leadership and execution.

Reporting to the VP of Performance, the Director of Growth will be responsible for developing and executing sales strategies, enhancing team performance, continuous coaching, and contributing to the overall growth strategy of Surex.

Responsibilities:

Team Performance & Talent Development

  • Build, lead, and retain a high-performing sales organization by attracting top talent, establishing clear expectations, and creating an environment where individuals can thrive and achieve their full potential.

  • Develop and execute talent strategies that support both current business needs and future growth, including succession planning, leadership development, and career pathing for high-potential team members.

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, accountability, coaching, and professional development by implementing structured training programs, ongoing skills enhancement initiatives, and knowledge-sharing best practices.

  • Provide consistent leadership through regular one-on-one coaching sessions, performance reviews, pipeline and forecast reviews, and development discussions to drive individual growth and improve overall team effectiveness.

  • Establish measurable performance objectives, key performance indicators (KPIs), and sales activity standards, ensuring team members are aligned with organizational goals and held accountable for results.

  • Identify individual and team performance gaps through data analysis, observation, and feedback, and develop targeted coaching and improvement plans to enhance productivity, sales effectiveness, and customer outcomes.

  • Mentor and develop future leaders, strengthening leadership capabilities across the organization and creating a strong internal talent pipeline.

  • Recognize and reward high performance while addressing performance challenges in a timely, constructive, and consistent manner.

  • Promote employee engagement, inclusivity, and well-being, creating a workplace culture where team members feel valued, empowered, and motivated to contribute at a high level.

  • Champion a results-driven, customer-centric, compliant, and ethical sales culture that balances business growth objectives with regulatory requirements, corporate values, and long-term client relationships.

  • Drive organizational excellence by continuously evaluating team structure, resource allocation, and sales processes to maximize efficiency, scalability, and overall team performance

Sales Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute a scalable sales strategy aligned with Surex’s growth, profitability, and market expansion goals.

  • Ensure revenue targets, production benchmarks, and performance metrics across the sales team are being achieved

  • Lead, coach, and mentor sales leaders and brokers to consistently achieve and exceed sales objectives.

  • Identify growth opportunities within existing and emerging markets.

  • Drive accountability through clear expectations, goal setting, and performance management.

Sales Operations & Process Management

  • Oversee and optimize sales processes, pipelines, and performance tracking systems.

  • Implement best practices that improve sales effectiveness, conversion rates, and customer experience.

  • Leverage data and analytics to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to remove barriers and improve operational efficiency.

  • Ensure consistent execution of sales methodologies and standards across the organization.

Reporting & Executive Collaboration

  • Prepare and present sales performance reports, forecasts, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.

  • Provide insights into market conditions, sales trends, and growth opportunities.

  • Contribute to annual business planning, budgeting, and company-wide growth initiatives.

  • Partner with leadership across departments to align sales efforts with broader business objectives.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressive sales leadership experience within insurance.

  • Level 1 or 2 AIC License or RIBO

  • 3+ years of hands-on broker experience, preferably personal lines.

  • Demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing sales teams.

  • Strong coaching, mentoring, and people-development skills.

  • Experience establishing KPIs, managing performance, and driving accountability.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

  • A passion for developing people and creating winning cultures
