Project Manager

Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Project Manager will be responsible for providing overall administrative direction, technical expertise and support to project teams
executing design/build and bid/spec energy, building automation systems and other HVAC related project work.

We have performed many successful building retrofits, saving our customers hundreds of thousands of kilowatts of electricity.

In addition to energy retrofits, we offer our customers exceptional HVAC mechanical, controls, maintenance and service. Our focus is on energy conservation as well as fast, responsive service by trained technicians. Our team currently includes electricians, building automation technicians, HVAC journeymen, G1 gas technicians, mechanical engineers and more.

Key Responsibilities
Ultimately responsible for the Project and Project Team’s performance including:

  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate daily operations.
  • Review and update schedule, cost forecast and cash flow with Project Team monthly.
  • Participate in project administration as necessary, ensuring project teams have adequate knowledge of the project, drawing packages, etc. to execute their work.
  • Develop and monitor the project schedule.
  • Ensure optimum utilization of labour, material and other resources across all projects.
  • Direct and/or oversee the timely purchase of materials, tools and equipment.
  • Schedule durations & resource level estimating and planning, schedule adherence during execution work ensuring end date completion as per schedule, milestones and progress,
  • Supervise and assign responsibilities to project teams including project managers, superintendents, project coordinators and administrative assistants assigned to project within areas of responsibility.
  • Achieving Project objectives (safety, environment, cost, schedule, quality and performance)
  • Ensure project profitability, schedule adherence and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop recovery strategies when project schedule or budget are in jeopardy.
  • Ensure project teams submit regular performance status reports regarding cost forecast, schedule and cash flow.
  • Plan and manage project budgets.
  • Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, clients.
  • Continually focus on areas of improvement., participating in proposals and presentations.
  • Undertake self-assessment/audit exercises to identify problem areas/processes to allow
  • Review ‘critical path scopes of work’ plans and ensure safety & efficiency is incorporated
  • Hire and supervise activities of subcontractors Attendance at weekly progress meetings.
  • Ensure PMC’s policies and procedures are implemented on projects.
  • Be an ambassador of the company both internally and externally.
  • Ensure appropriate usage of administrative procedures.
  • Supervise, mentor, coach and train project personnel.
  • Manage Performance expectations and conduct Performance Evaluations of project staff.
  • Prepare reports.
  • Establish and implement policies and procedures for quality control.
  • Prepare and submit construction project budget estimates.
  • Assist in securing new work by participating in estimates, working with subcontractors and/or
  • Participate in tender closings.

Training, Education & Qualifications

  • College or university program in construction / mechanical relevant field.
  • 3+ years construction experience, HVAC and building automation experience is an asset.
  • Experience in Design Build and Bid Specification construction.
  • The proven ability to successfully manage construction projects.
  • The proven ability to effectively manage administrative and field staff on projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods), industry
  • practices, estimating/budgeting, scheduling and safety requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to resolve project disputes with little to no assistance.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Takes initiative.
  • Flexible team player.
  • Good judgement. Reliable and organized.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, MS Word and Excel, Project.
  • Supervisor Accountability.
  • Hold a driver's license, own a car and be available for travel throughout Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

Work Location

  • Primary work location is PMC Energy Limited Moncton, NB site
  • Travel throughout Maritimes as required.
