Full job description

Job Overview:
CraneMax Hoisting Inc. is hiring a Maintenance Coordinator for our yard in Elkford, BC.

We are a family-owned crane and heavy-haul company. The current fleet includes boom trucks, all-terrain cranes, winch trucks, heavy-haul trailers, and support pickups. New cranes are arriving in 2027, taking capacities up to 500 tons. Most of the work is Elk Valley mining, with jobs across BC and Alberta and an additional branch in Central BC.

This is a hands-on shop role. You will run the preventative maintenance program, deal with breakdowns, manage parts and vendors, keep inspections current, and still work on the iron — including getting the 2027 units ready and keeping them maintained. The job is based at 6238 Hwy 43. Some field breakdowns and after-hours call-outs are part of the work.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and run preventative maintenance for mobile cranes, boom trucks, heavy-haul equipment, trailers, and support trucks
  • Help commission and maintain new cranes arriving in 2027
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic, diesel, electrical, and mechanical problems, or send work out when that is the better call
  • Follow up on operator defect reports the same shift or next shift
  • Source parts, manage vendors and warranties, and control shop costs
  • Keep inspections, CVIPs, manufacturer service, and equipment history up to date
  • Work with operations and dispatch so units come in for service without disrupting booked work
  • Lead day-to-day shop work and still turn wrenches
  • Respond to breakdowns in the yard or in the field
  • Keep the shop clean, documented, and honest about damage

Requirements

  • Heavy-duty, crane, or truck-shop experience — not light-duty automotive
  • Solid working knowledge of hydraulics, diesel, and electrical systems
  • Comfortable leading a small shop and working on the equipment yourself
  • Organized with PMs, work orders, and inspection records
  • Valid driver’s licence (Class 1 with air brakes is an asset)
  • Legal eligibility to work in Canada
  • Useful tickets: Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic, Truck and Transport, or Millwright; welding; CVIP inspector

What we offer

  • Full-time permanent role at our Elkford yard (6238 Hwy 43)
  • $45.00–$65.00 per hour, depending on experience
  • Double time on hours worked outside 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. weekdays. This includes night shifts, weekends, and statutory holidays
  • After a 3-month probation: Company pays 50% of group health and dental premiums
  • Growing fleet, including new cranes arriving in 2027, and a mix of equipment and applications

CraneMax Hoisting Inc. is a federally regulated employer. We thank all applicants; only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

Pay: $45.00-$65.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 60.0 per week

Benefits:

  • Casual dress
  • Dental care
  • Flexible schedule
  • On-site parking
  • Paid time off

Work Location: In person
