Full job description

Maintenance Manager is responsible for maintaining the plant's physical infrastructure, including:

* Repairing broken equipment

* Implementing preventive maintenance schedules

* Ensuring machinery is functioning correctly

*Ensuring hygiene and safety

*Managing daily operations to meet production goals.

This role requires a blend of hands-on maintenance and strategic planning to ensure a functional, safe, and compliant food production environment. Key responsibilities

Facility maintenance and operations:

Required skills and qualifications

  • Experience in maintenance management, with a preference for experience in the food and beverage or manufacturing industries.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Proficiency in maintenance and repair of various building systems and machinery.
  • Leadership and team management skills.
  • Budget management and financial acumen.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Oversee the daily operations, maintenance, repair, and cleaning of the entire facility, including machinery, plumbing, heating, cooling and ventilation systems.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure all systems are functioning correctly and meeting standards.
  • Implement and maintain security measures.
  • Hygiene and safety compliance:
  • Ensure the facility, especially food preparation areas, meets 100% hygiene standards through strict cleaning protocols, sanitization, and pest control.
  • Enforce and maintain compliance with all health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations specific to food manufacturing.
  • Manage waste disposal and ensure proper waste management practices are followed.
  • Staff and vendor management:
  • Supervise and train facility staff on proper procedures, including hygiene and machinery operation, according to safety regulations.
  • Manage and coordinate with external vendors for services and supplies.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers and contractors.
  • Budget and strategic planning:
  • Develop and manage the facility maintenance budget.
  • Plan and execute long-term strategies for facility improvement and efficiency.
  • Manage contracts and insurance related to the facility.
  • design, implement and monitor equipment maintenance schedules, sanitation procedures, cleaning procedures and repair activities for industrial food manufacturing and packaging equipment
  • perform required training and guide mechanical department employees
  • monitor safety of operation, storage, repair, sanitation and maintenance of industrial equipment
  • coordinate and monitor all technical activities performed in the organization
  • required applicants must have an engineering degree and at least 10 years experience if working in industrial food manufacturing plant in Canada in engineering/management role.
