Dispatcher - For Transportation Fuel

Location: Ottawa, ON (Nepean)

Shift: Wednesday - Saturday day shift. 10 hour days (40 hour work week completed in 4 days)

Who We Are
Our transport company specializes in bulk delivery of fuel for retail and wholesale distribution. Our commitment to safe and efficient delivery sets us apart from others in the industry.

We are seeking to immediately hire an experienced transportation dispatcher to join our team.

Who We Are Looking For:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven record of critical thinking, organizational proficiency and the ability to effectively dispatch a large volume of loads to an assigned customer pool. The dispatcher will also be responsible for identifying and participating in the resolution of issues relating to the day-to-day activity of fleet drivers. The dispatcher must be very organized, be an excellent communicator and have a keen sense of timeliness in carrying out daily activities including but not limited to;

Duties:

  • Receives orders from customers and schedules loads based on level of priority to ensure timely service delivery.
  • Plans and coordinates pick-up and delivery schedules along with tracking and reporting shipment status to customers.
  • Resolves client service issues directly and in a timely manner.
  • Handles all driver related messaging and calls within as assigned driver pool.
  • Is prepared to take overflow call volume for other dispatchers when time constraints require.
  • Escalates, executes and documents all customer service, planning and driver related issues to the appropriate channels.
  • Weekend work required.

Required experience:

  • 1 year of dispatch experience

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with dispatch software such as TMW Total Mail / Work Flow and TMW Operations will be considered an asset.
  • Organized, excellent communication skills, and possesses the ability to adhere to deadlines.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail, problem solving and planning.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exhibits proven analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Bilingualism will be considered an asset.
