Fort McMurray First Nation Group of Companies (FMFN Group) is the proud business entity of the Fort McMurray #468 First Nation. FMFN Group contributes to the overall growth and sustainability of our community by working with local businesses and industry partners. With over 30 years’ experience, FMFN Group has become a leader in providing heavy construction and mining services in the Wood Buffalo Region of Northern Alberta.

Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Class 1 Operator is responsible for driving various truck configurations (tractor trailer, truck and pup, super-b train) and delivering equipment, materials etc. to sites and areas all over Alberta.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Move and deliver equipment to and from construction sites, utilizing a lowbed trailer with Jeep and booster or tilt deck recovery trailer
  • Load and unload vehicles and equipment such as loaders, bobcat, tandem gravel trucks with pup, sand/plow trucks and triaxle side dump.
  • Deliver and operate equipment during summer and winter conditions on forestry, and off-road sites and terrain
  • Transport aggregate materials on occasion with end dump or tandem truck and pup
  • Perform pre-trip inspection and complete necessary paperwork, including accurate logbooks, inspection logbook and records of cargo
  • Comply with provincial driving rules and regulations (hours of service, trips inspections, cargo securement, size, weight, route designations, wrapping stations, parking, and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
  • Inspect equipment for mechanical items and safety issues and notify supervisor of defects or mechanical issues
  • Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Valid Class 1 license with 5+ years related experience operating various truck configurations (tractor trailer, truck and pup, super b train); low bedding heavy equipment; logging.

· Regional site experience and safety tickets

o Standard First Aid Level C with CPR and AED

o H2S Alive

o CSO

o Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness

o Wood Buffalo Wildlife Intermediate

o OHS Legislation Awareness

o Field Ergonomics

o Ground Disturbance 201 (we will provide it if needed

o Silica Awareness (we will provide this if needed)

· Full understanding of load securement and transporting of heavy construction machinery

· Ability to access all sites within Fort McMurray

· Must be available to work extended hours and occasionally work weekends

· Must be able to provide a clean Drivers Abstract and clear pre-employment A&D test

· Able to work with minimal supervision in a team and safety-focused environment
