Our wine list presents a curated balance of British Columbia’s most compelling vineyards alongside a remarkable selection from around the world, thoughtfully chosen by our sommelier and passionate team. At the bar, cocktails are crafted with intention — a mix of coastal character, housemade infusions, local botanicals, and a hint of daring, resulting in drinks that are as expressive as they are refined.
As a Host/Support at Ocean 7 & AQUA Bistro & Wine Bar, you are a key link within the chain that holds our restaurant together & enhances the guest experience. You work in direct collaboration with the entire service team to deliver a seamless guest experience that embodies warmth & efficiency. As the first point of contact, the support prioritizes the greeting of guests above all else. They work to support the servers, complete table maintenance, general cleanliness & banquet room setup. It is our goal to ensure our guests have their expectations exceeded on each visit to this establishment.
Currently seeking someone permanently available weekends and evenings. 3-4 days a week. MUST BE OKAY WORKING WEEKENDS, EVENINGS AND HOLIDAYS.
As a Host/Support, you possess detailed knowledge of all aspects of the restaurant industry including food & beverage menu selections, hours of operations, completing payments & maintaining organization. In a fast paced environment it is essential to possess leadership & integrity skills, excellent communication skills, quick planning & decision making skills. The Host/Support pays attention to detail, portrays constant professionalism and is very personable with guests.
Along with good time management, you main duties include:
- Greet guest in a warm & efficient manner while controlling the flow of the restaurant to support smooth service
- Answering the phone & taking reservations with warmth & knowledge
- Provide guests with information about the restaurant, hours of operation, specials, menus, etc.
- Assist collegues with the aim to create a seamless guest experience & enhance dining enjoyment
- Performing open, close & regular side duties to maintain a clean, stocked and organized work environment
- Clearing & re-setting tables for newly arrived guests
- Maintaining cleanliness of host station, banquet rooms, dining room & bistro
- Providing coffee/tea & water service for guests
- Take proper room service orders, accurately ringing into Squirrel system, setting up & coordinating friendly delivery of room service
- Read & interpret banquet event order forms & assist with set up/tear down of banquet rooms
- Genuinely, professionally & sympathetically communicating with guests & handling customer concerns
- Bathroom checks, resort rounds & food delivery when needed
Qualifications & requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill & ability required for this very important position.
- Basic product knowledge of types of draft & cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, desserts & menu items is required
- Minimum 1 year previous hospitality experience or equivalent
- Portray constant professionalism in appearance, positive & friendly attitude
- Clear written & verbal communication with all staff members and teamwork
- Ability to perform physical work and lift a minimum of 50 lbs
