Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Class 1 Driver. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating commercial vehicles to transport grain, hay & straw bales, & feed within Alberta. All trucks are home majority of nights. This role offers an opportunity to work in the agricultural sector, and be part of a farming environment.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate trucks, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
  • Ability to throw straps over large loads, and secure load properly
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations
  • Maintain accurate driver logs and documentation for each trip
  • Communicate effectively with dispatcher, and clients regarding delivery schedules and issues
  • Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to ensure vehicle operability

Skills

  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as tractors and other Ag machinery an asset, but not required
  • Ability to put on tire chains
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently
  • Basic mechanic skills for troubleshooting vehicle issues on the road
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and clients
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work independently under deadlines

This position is essential for ensuring the smooth transportation of ag commodities, while maintaining safety, efficiency and customer service standards.
