Full job description

Litigation Lawyer (Early–Mid Career)

Burnaby, BC | Full-Time | Competitive Compensation + Bonus

The Opportunity

We’re hiring a litigation lawyer who wants to move faster than their peers.

This role is for someone who is no longer satisfied being a small cog in a large firm—or being underutilized in a slow-moving one. You’re ready to take ownership of files, build real client relationships, and accelerate your career trajectory.

You’ll join a growing litigation-focused law firm with a strong reputation in Metro Vancouver, a steady flow of high-quality work, and a team that values competence, accountability, and professionalism.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Running your own files from intake through to resolution
  • Conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, and managing litigation strategy
  • Attending court, mediations, and negotiations
  • Advising clients directly and building long-term relationships
  • Supporting senior lawyers on complex matters where needed

This is not a “back-office” role—you will be front-facing and accountable.

Type of Work

You’ll gain exposure to a wide range of litigation matters, including:

  • Commercial and civil disputes
  • Contract and shareholder issues
  • Construction-related claims
  • Select family and administrative matters

The work is practical, fast-moving, and often high-stakes.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re not looking for the “average” associate.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has 1–6 years of litigation experience, not including personal injury
  • The majority of that experience is in British Columbia
  • Is highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Communicates clearly and confidently with clients
  • Takes ownership and follows through without being chased
  • Is motivated to improve—both legally and commercially
  • Works well in a team but doesn’t need hand-holding
  • Wants to practice law, rather than run a law firm and develop business

Compensation & Growth

  • Base salary: Competitive with the market (aligned to experience)
  • Performance bonus: Directly tied to production and contribution
  • Clear growth path: Increased autonomy, responsibility, and earning potential

This role is designed for someone who wants to earn more as they do more legal work, who would rather be working on files than networking with clients.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Early responsibility: You will run files sooner than at most firms
  • The Firm Provides the Clients: You do not need to do business development
  • Client exposure: Build your own relationships—not just do the work
  • Merit-based progression: Advancement based on performance, not tenure
  • Balanced environment: Professional, focused, and free of unnecessary bureaucracy

Work Environment

  • Modern office in Burnaby
  • Stable pipeline of incoming work
  • Collaborative, no-drama team culture
  • Systems and support in place so you can focus on legal work

How to Apply

Submit your application including:

  • Resume
  • Cover letter explaining why you’re a strong fit for this role

Pay: $115,000.00-$200,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Discounted or free food
  • Extended health care
  • On-site parking
  • Profit sharing
  • Vision care
  • Work from home

Work Location: In person
