LIVE-IN HOME SUPPORT WORKER - PENTICTON

Join our team! Are you an HCA, Care Aid or have a nursing background and looking for a new opportunity? Do you have a HSW or CSW and are looking for an incredible place to work? Come get paid for doing good and making a difference in your community.

We are looking for a Live-In Home Support Worker in Penticton for a 32 hour per week position that can work the following shift schedule:

  • 3:00pm to 8:00pm Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays
  • 8:00am to 8:00pm on Sundays

WHAT DOES A SUPPORT WORKER DO?

A great job opportunity, providing support within the community and at our home-based locations. We work with a variety of people with diverse abilities who require assistance to perform activities. You provide the energy, the smiles, and the initiative to help our friends enjoy life as much as possible.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct Intervention: Provide one-on-one behaviour intervention services to a 13-year-old individual, implementing individualized behaviour support plans (BSPs) and positive behaviour interventions as developed by a qualified professional (e.g., Board Certified Behaviour Analyst - BCBA).
  • Skill Development: Facilitate the development of adaptive living skills, communication skills, social skills, and self-regulation strategies tailored to the individual's needs and goals.
  • Data Collection & Documentation: Accurately collect and record data on target behaviours, skill acquisition, and intervention effectiveness. Maintain thorough and timely digital documentation of all sessions, progress notes, and relevant observations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Program Manager/Supervisor and other members of the interdisciplinary team (e.g., BCBA, SLPs, Psychiatrist, Nurses) to ensure a coordinated and consistent approach to intervention.
  • Reporting: Provide regular verbal and written updates on the individual's progress and any challenges encountered to the Program Manager/Supervisor.
  • Environmental Support: Assist in creating and maintaining a safe, supportive, and structured environment conducive to learning and positive behaviour.
  • Professional Development: Actively participate in team meetings, training sessions, and supervision as required. Stay current with best practices in behaviour intervention and disabilities.
  • Adherence to Policies: Adhere to all agency policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines, including confidentiality and child protection protocols.

HOURLY RATES (BASED ON DAILY AMOUNT):

  • $28.49 to $32.85 wage range after training complete (based on demonstrated experience and skill)

BENEFITS & RRSP MATCHING:

  • All employees working a minimum of 24 hours per week are eligible for our Extended Health and Dental benefits package;
  • 3 weeks of vacation time for all employees (based on accrual);
  • A voluntary RRSP matching program available to eligible employees.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Employees new to the company must comply with a paid basic training of 60 hours, which is progressive and adapts to the needs of the person

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum 2-year relevant diploma, or equivalent of education/experience working with children and youth with behavioural and other needs is preferred.
  • Specific training in behavioural modification, children under 12 years of age with support needs, attachment-based parenting, and relationship-based interventions (Trauma-informed practice).
  • Current and valid Standard First Aid with CPR Level C (or willingness to obtain before end of training period)
  • Exceptional work ethic

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Criminal Records and Child Welfare screening checks
  • Full driver's license - Class 5 (ability to drive a minivan)
  • Submission of a clean Driver's Abstract
  • Have a working cell phone at all times while you are at work. To be used in emergencies and to be able to contact or receive calls or text messages from staff members
