Program Facilitator – Community Access Program

Help Autistic Adults Build Skills, Confidence, and Independence

Are you passionate about helping others achieve their goals and live more independently? Join the Centre for Autism Services Alberta (CFASA) as a Program Facilitator, where you'll work alongside Autistic adults to develop practical life skills, build confidence, and participate meaningfully in their communities.

About the Program

Our Community Access Program empowers Autistic adults to build life skills, increase independence, and achieve personal goals. Participants attend programming at our centre in an inclusive post-secondary-style environment that encourages learning, community involvement, and personal growth.

About the Role

As a Program Facilitator, you'll teach and mentor Autistic adults as they develop practical life skills, increase their independence, and achieve personal goals. This role focuses on learning, skill development, and community participation through individualized coaching and group programming.

Every day is different. You might be coaching someone to use public transit for the first time, teaching someone to prepare a meal independently, facilitating a group activity, or celebrating a milestone they've worked hard to achieve. If you're looking for meaningful work where you can make a lasting impact, we'd love to hear from you.

You'll teach and coach participants in areas such as:

  • Cooking and meal planning
  • Grocery shopping
  • Budgeting and money management
  • Public transit and community navigation
  • Social and communication skills
  • Problem-solving and decision-making
  • Recreation and community participation

Participants are independent adults who are motivated to build new skills and work toward personal goals. As a Program Facilitator, you'll empower participants through teaching, coaching, and community-based learning experiences that promote confidence, independence, and lifelong learning. This role is centred on education, coaching, and skill development rather than personal care.

Community-Based Work

Community involvement is a key part of this role. Facilitators regularly:

  • Coach participants to build confidence and independence in community settings
  • Teach and model public transit use
  • Transport small groups to activities and appointments
  • Encourage participants to build confidence and independence in real-world settings

A valid driver's license and reliable vehicle are required.

Schedule

  • Monday to Friday
  • 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Full-time availability required
  • No evenings, weekends, or overnight shifts

About the Organization

The Centre for Autism Services Alberta (CFASA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to working alongside Autistic people and their families. Since 1997, CFASA has made it its mission to provide Autistic people with meaningful and responsive supports that prioritize each person's autonomy and equal access to opportunities. Our organization serves Autistic individuals over their lifespan. We make it our practice to listen to the community and co-create supports that meet their needs. We partner with families, communities, schools and workplaces to reduce barriers, so that Autistic people can access the activities and spaces that are important to them. We advocate for authentic inclusion, equality, and Neurodiversity Affirming Supports across all of our programs. Our organization is built by and for Autistic people, and we have committed to continuous improvement and learning.

We are a neuro-inclusive employer, and we know that attracting employees from diverse identities makes our work better. If you share our values and our enthusiasm to empower Autistic individuals and their families to thrive, you will find a great career at CFASA. We welcome the unique contributions future staff can bring in terms of their education, opinions, neurotype, culture, ethnicity, race, sex, gender identity and expression, nation of origin, age, languages spoken, color, religion, disability, sexual orientation, and beliefs.

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who enjoys teaching, coaching, and empowering others while building meaningful relationships.

  • Minimum one year of experience working with adults with Autism or developmental disabilities
  • Post-secondary education in a related field (Psychology, Social Work, Education, Disability Studies, Human Services, Kinesiology or Recreation, etc.)
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to person-centered, neurodiversity-affirming coaching

Required upon hire:

  • Police Information Check
  • Child Intervention Record Check
  • Standard First Aid & CPR-C
  • Driver's Abstract
  • Minimum $2 million automobile liability insurance

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting wage: $22.81/hour, plus mileage reimbursement
  • Benefits after 3 months
  • RRSP matching after 6 months

Why Join Us?

At CFASA, you'll join a collaborative team that is passionate about empowering Autistic adults to achieve their goals and participate fully in their communities

  • Consistent daytime schedule
  • Supportive and collaborative team environment
  • Meaningful work that promotes independence and community inclusion
  • Opportunities for ongoing learning and professional growth
  • The chance to build lasting relationships while helping others develop the skills and confidence to live more independently

If you're passionate about helping others build skills, achieve goals, and connect with their community, we'd love to hear from you.

Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
