Full job description

We're River Valley, a landscape and snow company in Ottawa. We run residential and commercial lawn routes in summer and snow in winter, and we offer 12-month work, not a summer gig that stops in October. We're looking for one solid crew lead, and we'd like you to start now.

What the job is

- Now through fall: run a lawn crew. Mowing, trimming, cleanups, and helping us close out fall routes properly. We'll train you on our routes, our standards and our app.

- Winter: lead commercial walkway crew. This is a leader-and-labour role, not a supervising one. You clear alongside the crew, you're the most efficient person on it, and you set the pace and the attitude. Winter is demanding and it's all hands on deck. On larger properties with a lot of walks the crew runs a stand-on blower or snow mover.

- Keep the crew safe, on schedule, and doing work you'd put your name on. Flag problems before a property manager does.

You've got

- At least 2 seasons in landscaping, lawn care, or a related trade, with some time running a crew or being the go-to person on one

- A valid G licence, a decent abstract, and your own way to get to the yard. This is essential. You'll be driving a truck and trailer, so you need to be competent trailering.

- You're OK with early starts and storm call-outs in winter

- You can use a phone app for clock-ins, routes and photos

Bonus if you've got

- Commercial snow or sidewalk experience

- Stand-on / zero-turn mower time

- Tractor, loader or skid steer time

Hours and pay

- Full-time in season. In winter we guarantee 20 hours a week, and storm weeks run well past that.

- $23.50 to $27.50 an hour depending on experience. Overtime after 44 hrs, 4% vacation pay.

- 12-month work opportunities. Real responsibility and room to grow with us.

Where

We dispatch from two yards, Carp and Barrhaven. Most winter work dispatches from Barrhaven, or straight from site when it makes sense. Neither yard is on a bus route.
