Full job description

We are seeking a law clerk to join our team.

This is a full-time and in-person only position at our Markham office location.

The Feldstein Family Law Group is a firm with a reputation of 25 years+ and is committed to quality service and skilled legal representation in our family law practice which focuses solely on private clients.

The ideal candidate should be a fast learner, be able to work in a fast-paced environment and work well under pressure. The ability to multi-task is also essential.

Salary is commensurate with experience and is to be discussed.

Required Experience:

  • Ontario Law Clerk Diploma from an institution certified by the Institution of Law Clerks of Ontario
  • Minimum 1 to 3 years experience as a family law clerk at an Ontario family law firm preferred, but not required
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working with DivorceMate
  • Familiarity with family law legal terminology and court procedure is preferred
  • Knowledge of phone etiquette for professional client interactions

Duties:

  • Drafting documents, including but not limited to court documents, correspondence, DivorceMate calculations, etc.
  • Preparing documents for meetings, service and filing with the court
  • Performing data entry and maintaining electronic and paper filing systems
  • Keeping informed on court notices, new polices, Rules and legislation, and providing updated communications to lawyers
  • Proofreading documents for accuracy and completeness
  • Clerical tasks, including but not limited to, printing, scanning, photocopying, and faxing
  • Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Assist with other legal administrative duties as needed.
