Job Summary:

The Environmental Worker is responsible to the Director of Support Services. To assist in meeting the needs of the residents by providing a clean, safe, comfortable environment in accordance with the facility and departmental policies.

Qualifications and Personal Attributes:

  • Must have a Nova Scotia Grade XII or equivalent and be able to follow verbal and written instructions without direct supervision
  • Must have experience in housekeeping and laundry duties in Homes for Special Care
  • Must be physically and mentally able to perform job duties with a minimum of supervision
  • Must be able to work well with all levels of staff
  • Must have empathy with the residents
  • Must be a dependable and a responsible person
  • Must not be allergic to cleaning products
  • Must be able to read and understand labels
  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks
  • Sewing ability is an asset
  • Must be neat and clean
  • Must wear uniforms and proper footwear
  • Make up and jewelry to be conservative
