Full job description

Reporting to the Supervisor, the Janitor is responsible for performing janitorial duties, while maintaining a clean and orderly environment in both the plant and office facilities.

Key activities

  • Clean and supply designated building areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning etc.) as per cleaning schedule.
  • Collect and dispose of all garbage and recyclables.
  • Complete an Inventory of cleaning products once a week and collaborate with Purchaser when supplies are needed.
  • Carry out heavy cleansing tasks and special projects.
  • Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs.
  • In the winter, clean snow from walkways and spread salt to de-ice area.
  • Perform and document routine inspection by using a cleaning log where needed.
  • Follow all health and safety and GMP regulation.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by management.
  • Maintain cleanliness of chemical storage area and assist forklift operator/production staff in organizing the same.
  • Upon supervisor’s request assist production staff to run the machine during lunch/breaks.

Required training and experience

  • Minimum high school diploma.
  • Previous work experience in the food and beverage manufacturing industry is preferred.

Skills sought

  • Safe food handling procedures.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, stand for long periods of time and experience working in a fast-paced environment with repetitive tasks.
