About Us

Equals Brewing Company was founded in 2018 and has quickly become a trusted partner in producing exceptional beers, ciders, and ready-to-drink products for some of Ontario’s and Canada’s favorite brands.

We’re the creators of Bangarang Hard Seltzer, one of the fastest-growing RTD brands in Ontario, and Shake Lager, a gold medal winner at the Canadian Brewing Awards. In 2022, we proudly added Side Launch Brewery and its award-winning beers to our portfolio.

At Equals, we believe our success and growth are driven by the dedication of our people. We're a small, ambitious team with a vibrant and fun culture, and we're looking for a detail-oriented and passionate Quality Control Technician to join us. As a growing company, we are looking for employees who are ready to take initiative, contribute to our momentum, and deliver results.

What You’ll Do - Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) standards are maintained
  • Support and develop quality knowledge throughout the brewery and create databases to improve lab efficiency
  • Analyze microbiological, brewing, and packaging results, and follow up as required
  • Act as a point of contact for quality control technicians to troubleshoot errors and develop ongoing solutions
  • Perform routine testing and analysis of raw materials, brewing and packaging in-process samples, and finished products to ensure food safety and compliance with brand specifications
  • Enter data and complete customer reports accurately
  • Maintain, calibrate, and clean lab equipment; ensure necessary parts are ordered and stocked
  • Train operators and conduct audits to support understanding of quality testing
  • Provide data to troubleshoot brewing and packaging quality issues, and document solutions in notes or SOPs
  • Review brewing and packaging QC check sheets for any non-conformance and alert the department as necessary
  • Support other operations and teams throughout the brewery
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, food safety, and health & safety policies
  • Other duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For

  • College diploma or University degree in a related field is required
  • Previous experience in a quality control lab within a food production environment is preferred
  • Experience in brewing, distilling, or wine-making is considered an asset
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to think critically and work with others to uphold quality standards, even when priorities may compete
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision, as well as in a team setting
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Able to set priorities and meet objectives
  • Proficient with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and 5S principles

What to Expect

  • Shift Pattern: Rotating 12-hour continental shift (days and nights), including weekends and overtime based on production needs.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift items up to 25 kg; standing, walking, bending, and twisting for long periods.
  • Work Environment: Fast-paced, with time split between the quality lab and production floor.

Why Join Us?

  • Be Part of Something Growing: We’re a small, ambitious team making big moves in the industry.
  • Room to Make an Impact: You’ll have the opportunity to contribute ideas, improve processes, and help shape our brewery’s success.
  • Work with Great People: Join a team that values collaboration, problem-solving, and a shared commitment to quality.
