  • Diagnose hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues and provide technical support to faculty, learners, and staff.
  • Complete software and firmware updates, preventative maintenance, cleaning, decontamination, calibration, inspections, and function testing.
  • Determine equipment serviceability, remove unsafe equipment from service, and maintain equipment, maintenance, and asset records.
  • Coordinate technical support, warranty, and service issues with vendors and collaborate with Educational Technology and IT on shared systems and infrastructure.
  • Monitor simulation technology developments and recommend equipment replacement, upgrades, and capital acquisitions

Simulation Operations and Supply Management

  • Manage equipment and consumable inventory, including stock levels, reorder points, expiry dates, secure storage, and purchasing.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions, monitor orders, and resolve supplier discrepancies.
  • Coordinate laboratory and simulation spaces, equipment, preparation areas, and storage across courses, cohorts, and campuses.
  • Establish daily setup priorities and ensure scheduled sessions are operationally ready.
  • Develop and maintain standardized setup templates for laboratories, skill stations, room configurations, and simulation scenarios.
  • Maintain standard operating procedures for equipment use, cleaning, storage, and laboratory opening and closing.

Instructional and Learner Support

  • Prepare, operate, and reset simulation equipment and laboratory spaces for scheduled sessions.
  • Program and operate manikin scenarios and physiological states to faculty specifications and manage audiovisual capture for debriefing.
  • Supports faculty and learners in the use of instructional media, EdEHR, and virtual and virtual reality platforms.
  • Provides orientation to the simulation environment for learners, faculty, and staff, on simulation technology and develop supporting reference and troubleshooting materials.
  • Apply moulage and prepare realistic simulation environments using clinical and simulated supplies, including portraying patients or family members when required.
  • Provides technical and feasibility advice during scenario development, including achievable fidelity, device capability, and setup requirements. Scenario design, facilitation, debriefing, and learner evaluation remain the responsibility of nursing faculty.

Leadership and Supervision

  • Establishes and maintains operating standards for the laboratory and simulation environment, encompassing equipment readiness, inventory systems, setup templates, and documentation.
  • Mentors and onboards simulation technicians and student technical assistants, including orientation to the template library and standard operating procedures.
