Job Duties/Qualifications, Skills and Abilities(QSA)

Job Duties

Job Duties
1. Assist with orientation of new simulation assistants to SLC.
2. Collaborate with SLC coordinator for the acquisition of supplies and equipment, purchasing, storage and provision of lab supplies and equipment, including bi-annual inventory count.
3. Perform product and vendor research.
4. Assess supply and equipment product suitability, availability, program value and performance in relationship to the objectives of the SLC.
5. Prepare and present supplies and equipment for specific events, e.g. instillation of fluid compartments of simulators, dressing bundles, simulated sutures, wound care simulators, heat sealed instruments.
6. Dismantle and store supplies and equipment following simulation events/scenarios.
7. Assist the technician with the physical preparation and dismantling of simulation equipment.
8. Establish and maintain working relationships (both national and international) with counterparts from other educational institutions, simulation lab professionals, vendors, community representatives, health industry/education leaders.
9. Work as a member of the SLC team.
10. Liaise with faculty and health region representatives regarding current standards of practice, policies, procedures and preferred products.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)
1. Degree or diploma in nursing; and/or certificate or diploma in paramedicine; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
2. A minimum of two years of experience working in an acute care clinical setting.
3. Strong understanding of medical terminology and current knowledge of procedures and consumable medical products used in healthcare and in simulation, including the operation of simulation software.
4. Training or experience at the introductory level in the use of MS Office suite.
5. Effective communication (listening, oral, written) skills.
6. Good analytical and organizational skills.
7. Ability to work cooperatively within a team.
8. Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
9. Demonstrates valuing diversity.
10. Must have valid driver’s license.
