Job Duties/Qualifications, Skills and Abilities(QSA)

Job Duties

Job Duties
The invigilator assumes responsibility for test room security and administration of test materials. This includes but is not limited to, picking up and checking the test materials, setting up the test room, assuring electronic testing equipment (when applicable) is functioning, administering test materials and returning completed tests to administrators, taking payment for exams.

Exam Security
  • Follow the protocols for exam security and integrity and candidate check in as laid out in the manual and/or as per the specialized exam.
  • Confirm attendance, ensure correct exam papers/packages are received and ready for exam start, distribute appropriate exam papers, instruct students regarding correct start and finish times.


Administration
  • Invigilators check out exams and other materials from Test Centre or IELTS office and carry out admin work before exam starts.
  • Rooms, tables and chairs are arranged according to the number of candidates, setting up seating charts and specialized dividers are arranged where applicable.

Computer Skills
  • Basic troubleshooting knowledge to support Administrators as required and for when alone with smaller group of test takers in other labs (ex. websites, specialized software, reading software, Brightspace,LockDown Browsers, IELTS/ CELPIP).
  • Ability to scan and take photos with computers for ID purposes on specialized exams.
  • Keyboarding skills – able to type at a reasonable speed.
  • Data entry (online booking systems like Accommodate and Register Blast, and Excel spreadsheets).
  • Outlook (email and calendars).

Supervision
  • Record start and end time of exams as they are turned in.
  • Actively patrol the exam room to prevent cheating.
  • Only allow candidates to leave after all exam materials have been collected and accounted for.

Confidentiality
  • Invigilators must ensure that confidential materials such as IDs remain secure.
