Department: Quality
Reports to: Quality Supervisor
Status: Full-time
Shift: Evening shift (approx. 3:00 PM–11:30 PM or 4:00 PM–12:30 AM), with initial day-shift training and flexibility for potential rotation between day and evening shifts.

The pay range for the role is $41,000 to $68,300 plus bonus, comprehensive benefits, retirement savings plan, paid vacation, and other perks and opportunities.

Purpose:
Reporting to the Quality Supervisor, this position is responsible for day-to-day running of the lab including all required daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly tests and calibrations and as required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts daily chemical tests, including pH, fat, moisture and salt
  • Performs microbiological tests, for Coliform, E. coli, Staph, yeast and mold
  • Performs all necessary equipment calibrations within the plant
  • Conducts environmental testing, including air quality, water and equipment swabs
  • Performs lab documentation in a timely and accurate manner
  • Cleans, prepares and maintains laboratory equipment
  • Maintains a clean and safe lab area at all times
  • Conducts daily GMP inspections
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Post-Secondary education in Food Science, Microbiology or related discipline
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the food industry
  • Understanding of CFIA regulations and FSEP/SFCR requirements is an asset
  • Experience with MS office applications (Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Ability to work off shift, various hours and some weekends
