Full job description

Exciting employment opportunity at Bri-Steel Manufacturing. Bri-Steel Manufacturing is a unique, large diameter, seamless steel pipe manufacturer, located in Edmonton, Alberta. We are the only manufacturer in the Western Hemisphere producing diameters 14 to 36 inch seamless pipe. Bri-Steel Manufacturing has a reputation in the industry for high quality products and a high ethical standard. Highlights of Qualifications:

  • Good understanding of chemical and/or mechanical testing of metals.
  • Some understanding of pipe NDE inspection test methods and their application and limitations.

Reporting to the Manager of Quality and R&D, this position involves the sampling and destructive testing of pipe manufactured by the Thermal Pipe Expansion (TPE) process, product marking, documentation & traceability. Someone with very good communication and organizational skills, who understands the importance of quality and efficiency, would be a good candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Visual inspection of all raw material and finished product.
  • Perform sampling and destructive testing of manufactured pipe products (Chemical analysis and/or mechanical testing)
  • Assist with the non-destructive testing of the pipe (Hydrotesting, ET, UT)
  • Application of markings to finished product.
  • Maintain production data/documentation and compile the data into Mill Test Reports (MTRs)
  • Assist in the installation and set up of new testing equipment.
  • Assist with developing product testing procedures.
  • Contribute toward a safe and positive workplace.

Education Qualifications:

The following are minimum levels of education necessary to adequately perform duties:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Metallurgical/Materials/Chemical/Mechanical/Quality Engineering Technology Diploma (or equivalent experience)
  • Willing to accept applicants with foreign engineering or technology training and experience.

Experience Qualifications:

The following are preferred work experience attributes that would benefit a candidate:

  • Experience in a chemical or mechanical testing laboratory.
  • Experience with carbon steels and/or visual inspection of pipe.
  • Experience with QA documentation.

Starting wage is $25.00 an hour with a wage adjust after 3 months of employment. Must be able to work days and nights. Monday to Thursday shift schedule.
