Full job description

Quality Technician (Afternoon Shift) – Sunrise Bakery

Sunrise Bakery is a large, established commercial bakery on the west end of Edmonton. Since 1963, we’ve grown across North America while maintaining a close-knit, first-name-basis team of 80+ people—many of whom have been with us for 10 to 20 and all the way to 50+ years.

We are seeking a reliable Quality Technician with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude to join our experienced QC Team.

Shift Schedule & Reality Check

  • Shift: This is strictly an Afternoon Shift.
  • Availability: You must be available for shifts ending as late as midnight. If you do not have reliable transportation or flexibility for late nights, please do not apply.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor product safety, quality, production processes, and personnel GMPs for SOP compliance.
  • Perform production line quality checks and conduct physical, chemical, and organoleptic testing on ingredients and finished products.
  • Manage sample collection at various stages of production and perform environmental swabbing.
  • Identify, investigate, and report process deviations; assist with corrective actions (CAPA).
  • Conduct facility inspections/internal audits and assist with QC administrative documentation.
  • Liaise with other departments to maintain food safety and quality standards.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Experience: 2+ years in a similar food manufacturing QC position.
  • Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, and BRC or SQF standards.
  • Skills: Proficient in MS Office & Excel; excellent English communication skills (verbal and written); strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Physical: Must have steel-toed boots. Position requires standing/walking for long periods, occasional heavy lifting, and occasionally working in the freezer.

IMPORTANT: Please Read Before Applying.

Due to the incredibly high volume of applicants we receive, do not call or email the bakery to check on the status of your application. Tracking down individual resumes stops our production and quality teams from doing their jobs. We review every application internally. If your skills match what we are looking for, we will contact you directly for an interview. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.rviews.
