Full Time – Day & Night Shift Rotation (12 Hrs)

We are looking for passionate, engaged individuals to join our production laboratories at our Guelph facilities. As the Laboratory Technician, your role will be to complete the production process of our industry leading genetic products that are used on farms for healthy dairy and beef herds around the world.

What you will do:

  • Evaluate semen quality based on concentration, volume, and sperm quality following SOPs.
  • Prepare semen samples for sorting and further processing.
  • Operate, maintain and calibrate flow cytometry and sorting machines, ensuring proper calibration and performance.
  • Perform purity analysis and monitor machine efficiency.
  • Perform centrifugation and dilution of sorted semen
  • Prepare, fill, seal, and freeze semen straws for storage and distribution.
  • Manage sample identification, labeling, and data entry in the ERP system.
  • Follow strict quality assurance protocols, collaborating with the QA team to ensure traceability and compliance.
  • Work in cold environments and handle liquid nitrogen storage.

What you need to be successful:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately.
  • Effective communication skills in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain lab equipment while adhering to SOPs.
  • Team-oriented mindset, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment and handling repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to work in a cold environment (cold room) for long periods

Education & Experience:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, Science, Agriculture, or a related field (preferred).
  • 1-2 years of experience in a laboratory or production setting (biotechnology, food, or agriculture industries is an asset).
  • Experience with micropipetting, sample preparation, and laboratory procedures is beneficial.
