Clearview Eye Centre is looking for a Full and Part-Time Ophthalmic Tester/Technician to join our team!
Job Summary:
You are a highly detail-oriented individual who thrives on precision and patient interaction. Your positive, friendly demeanour ensures that patients feel at ease throughout their testing experience. You are a natural problem-solver, adapting easily to new technologies and procedures, and you’re motivated to deliver the highest quality results with professionalism and care.
Your dedication to patient education means that you take the time to clearly explain each testing process, ensuring that patients are informed and comfortable. You are committed to working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining the highest standards of care, integrity, and teamwork.
Position Available:
Ophthalmic Medical Tester / Technician
Roles and Responsibilities:
· Accurately performing patient screenings and diagnostic tests such as patient history, visual acuity, pupil assessment, intraocular pressure, Isihara testing, dry eye testing, visual field testing, OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography), corneal topography, Optos scan, IOL calculations, Endothelial cell count, and Visante OCT.
· Updating and entering new medications accurately in patient records.
· Educating patients on preliminary testing procedures, ensuring they are informed and comfortable, and answering any questions.
· Documenting patient information accurately and efficiently in electronic medical records.
· Maintaining, calibrating, and cleaning diagnostic equipment to ensure consistent, high-quality results.
· Triaging and returning phone calls from patients and healthcare professionals in a timely manner.
· Adapting to a collaborative team environment while maintaining a high standard of patient care.
· Handling additional administrative and technical tasks as needed to contribute to the smooth operation of the clinic.
Qualifications:
· High School Diploma or equivalent;
· 2+ years of previous experience as an Ophthalmic Tester/Technician
· Certified as COA/ COT considered an asset
Skills:
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on ensuring clarity and empathy when explaining complex concepts to patients.
· Strong computer skills; experience with EMR is considered an asset.
· Ability to quickly learn and adapt to evolving technology and procedures in a clinical environment.
· Professional demeanour and appearance, reflecting our high standards and values.
· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume setting, remaining calm under pressure.
· Strong critical thinking, judgment, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
· Self-motivated with a focus on delivering high-quality patient outcomes and demonstrating initiative.
Flexible Language Requirement:
· French not required
