Job Purpose
To coordinate and oversee resident-focused care plans, manage nursing administration, and provide leadership, direction, and education to Personal Support Workers (PSWs) and unregulated care providers. The Administrative RPN ensures that all care delivery aligns with company policies, provincial regulations, and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities
1. Care Coordination & Documentation

  • Develop and modify resident care plans based on initial and ongoing clinical assessments.
  • Manage admission, transfer, and discharge checklists for incoming and outgoing residents.
  • Transcribe and process physician and pharmacy orders into Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Schedule and lead multidisciplinary resident care conferences with families and physicians.
2. Clinical Leadership & Staff Supervision
  • Supervise, delegate, and guide PSWs and other unregulated care partners on the floor.
  • Assist in orienting and training new nursing staff, PSWs, and students.
  • Monitor staff performance and provide input for performance appraisals to the Director of Care.
  • Serve as a supervisor for the building or department in the absence of the Director of Care.
3. Program Support & Compliance
  • Enforce adherence to legislative frameworks like the Retirement Homes Act or Fixing Long-Term Care Act.
  • Coordinate clinical programs such as Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) and Health & Safety initiatives.
  • Investigate and resolve concerns raised by residents or families, escalating to executive leadership when necessary.
  • Audit health records and charts routinely to ensure accuracy and strict regulatory compliance.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
  • Licensure: Active registration in good standing as an RPN with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or applicable provincial board.
  • Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR and Medication Administration certificates.
  • Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of geriatric nursing experience; prior experience in a team lead or administrative capacity is preferred.
