PROGRAM: 611 Youth Living Support
LOCATION: Kamloops, BC
STATUS: Casual
COMPENSATION: Starting from $29.22 (Grid 11 as per collective agreement)
HOURS of WORK: Casual on-call
Causal employees are required to provide their availability each month following the guidelines below:
Afternoon: 3:30pm-11:30pm,
Awake Overnight: 11:30pm-7:30am
Are you passionate about making a difference in a young person’s life? In this role, you'll provide structured, one-on-one support in a home setting to help a youth build independence and thrive.
What You’ll Do: • Teach life skills for independent living.

- 4 weekdays-4weekends-4 any days in the month
- Availability is assumed for all three shifts for the 12 days provided: day, afternoon, and awake overnight.
Afternoon: 3:30pm-11:30pm,
Awake Overnight: 11:30pm-7:30am

What You’ll Do: • Teach life skills for independent living.
- Guide behavior management and coping strategies.
- De-escalate crisis situations with effective interventions.
- Collaborate with family, care teams, and community professionals.
- Plan and prepare nutritious meals.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive home environment.
- Keep accurate documentation and reports.
- Engage in recreational activities that promote growth and well-being.
- Competitive wage - $29.22
- 10.6% additional pay with each paycheck for vacation and stats
- 5 fully paid sick days per year
- Wage increases with every 2000 hrs. of seniority, up until Step 4
- Fully paid training and professional development opportunities

- Interior Community Services is a Municipal Pension Plan (MPP) employer. Casual employees' entitlement to MPP is determined based on the candidate's current contribution status. If you are already a contributing member, your contributions will continue without interruption.
- Diploma in Human or Social services or other related field
- Experience working with a care team to support youth with diverse needs.
- Or a combination of education, training and experience.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with youth, families, and care teams.
- Support youth who have experienced trauma with compassion and understanding.
- Respond calmly to challenging behaviors, crises, and aggression.
- Apply attachment theory and CBT principles in your approach.
- Guided youth in life skills, goal-setting, and daily routines.
- Develop personalized schedules and plans to support growth.
- Stay active—bike, swim, walk, hike, and engage in client-focused activities.
- Think critically, follow policies, and take initiative.
- Manage conflicts effectively and document accurately.
- Keep the home running—shopping, cleaning, budgeting, and meal planning.
- Cook nutritious meals to support a healthy lifestyle.
- Assess safety risks and respond appropriately to crises.
- Administer medications.
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License and safe driving record
- Access to a reliable vehicle
- Consent to Criminal Record and Background Check by MCFD
- Unionized position with a 1.85% union dues deduction
- The following training is required and provided to the successful candidate free of charge. Existing certification is an asset: First Aid, Mandt, SafeTALK, Safe Food Handling, Medication Management, Privacy and Information Sharing, Abuse and Neglect Awareness training, Anti-Bullying, and Harassment.
- Physical requirements of the job include supporting individuals with recreational activities and household duties, including hiking, biking, yard work, snow removal, general cleaning duties, etc.
