Position Overview

Gobind Sarvar School is seeking an innovative and enthusiastic STEM / Computer Science Specialist to join our team for the 2026–2027 school year. The successful candidate will inspire students through engaging learning experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), coding, robotics, computational thinking, and computer science.

The ideal candidate will foster creativity, problem-solving, critical thinking, and innovation while helping students develop the skills needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving digital world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging STEM and Computer Science lessons aligned with the Alberta Curriculum.
  • Teach coding, computational thinking, robotics, digital literacy, and technology integration across various grade levels.
  • Develop hands-on, project-based learning experiences that encourage creativity, innovation, and problem-solving.
  • Support students in STEM competitions, coding clubs, robotics programs, and technology-focused extracurricular activities.
  • Integrate emerging technologies and digital tools into classroom instruction.
  • Adapt instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages collaboration and inquiry.
  • Assess student progress and provide meaningful feedback to support growth and achievement.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school leadership to integrate STEM concepts across subject areas.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events.

Pre-Employment Requirements

  • Candidates must possess or be eligible for an Alberta Teaching Certificate.
  • The successful candidate will be required to submit a current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check within 30 days of employment.
  • Applicants must provide a professional reference letter from their most recent supervisor relevant to the position, written on company letterhead, signed, and dated within the last 12 months, or provide an updated list of references.
  • Recent or new graduates may submit their final practicum report in place of a reference letter.

Qualifications

  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate (required) or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Bachelor of Education, Computer Science, Engineering, Technology Education, Mathematics, Science, or a related field recognized by Alberta Education.
  • Minimum one year of recent classroom teaching experience in Canada preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the Alberta Program of Studies.
  • Experience teaching Computer Science, Coding, Robotics, STEM, or Technology Education.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Scratch, Python, JavaScript, or similar platforms is considered an asset.
  • Experience with robotics platforms, makerspaces, or educational technology tools is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth and innovation in education.
