We are innovators and leaders in the greenhouse industry that cultivate and market hydroponic tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, beans, strawberries and cannabis. The company is currently seeking a candidate to fill the full-time position of Junior Financial Analyst.

This is an excellent opportunity to acquire practical experience for the purposes of earning the CPA designation. The role will include exposure to a mass scale operation, as well as a newly listed public company in the growing cannabis industry. This will be of particular interest to individuals who are interested in public company accounting and being mentored directly by a CFO. The position will include a competitive compensation package including financial support for the CPA program. No prior experience in the related role is required, but the company is seeking candidates that are recent graduates with a specialization in accounting.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular commodity analysis
  • Identify and analyze variances from budget and prior year results. Present findings in a concise manner that accurately reflects the operating results
  • Prepare the monthly, quarterly and annual management reporting packages, including consolidation of financial statements
  • Assist with developing and applying new procedures for costing and analysis
  • Assist with all procedures related to financing and expansion strategies
  • Participation in the annual budgeting process, including pre-budget analysis and research
  • Assist with preparation of financial projections
  • Participate in the annual external audit, tax preparation and periodic regulatory requests
  • Research and manage applications for government grants

Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • B.Comm or equivalent, with accounting specialization
  • Currently pursuing CPA designation
  • Excellent communication (both oral and written), organization and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
  • Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and passionate for continuous improvement
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Interested in agriculture and working in a rural area on-site
